Tigers Fall In Overtime At Rhodes 2-1

Memphis, Tenn.  – The Wittenberg field hockey team suffered a difficult 2-1 overtime loss to Rhodes College on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers will remain in Memphis, Tenn. through the weekend taking on Sewanee University on Sunday.

 

How the Tigers Scored

Wittenberg was first to get on the board just ten minutes into the action when Blaine Donnelly connected on the Veronica Carrow assist to beat the Lynx goalie. Rhodes would tie the game just eight minutes later. The second half would go scoreless, as Allie Purvis made four of her five saves after the break.

 

By the Numbers

The Tigers recorded six shots on the day, as Wittenberg was awarded four penalty corners on the afternoon.

Even though we lost I think we played great and continue to show major growth in every game that we have. I'm excited to see our team continue that growth through the rest of the season," said Blaine Donnelly.
