Wittenberg Falls To W&J In Home Opener

Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg field hockey team hosted the Presidents of Washington and Jefferson College for the 2018 season opener at Edwards-Maurer Field. The visiting team posted the first goal of the game, putting a goal up in the first two minutes of action. Washington and Jefferson would add to their lead in the second half with two more goals, coming at the 50th and 61st minute. Wittenberg would rack up three shots through the first half of action, while senior goalie Allie Purvis would make four saves.  

 

GAME BREAKDOWN

  • Megan Niswonger and Blaine Donnelly led the charge on offense for Wittenberg with two shots each, placing one on target.
  • Purvis would finish the game making seven saves against 10 shots on goal.
  • The Tigers would earn three penalty corners on the evening.
