Wittenberg Field Hockey Wins Six In A Row

Oberlin, Ohio – The Wittenberg University field hockey team cruised to their sixth straight win, taking down the Yeowomen of Oberlin College 7-1 from the road on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers set the tone early, as Audrey Coler found the back of the net for the second day in a row with the first goal of the day going in as only seven minutes expired. Coler would be on the attack soon again, finding Blaine Donnelly for the Tiger's second goal. Wittenberg would take a 4-0 lead into the break, with Isabella Wagner tallying back-to-back goals in the 22nd and 25th minutes of action. Nine different Tigers would tally shot attempts on the afternoon, leading to four separate Wittenberg goal scorers.

GAME BREAKDOWN

  • Veronica Carrow led the Wittenberg attack with nine shots and eight on target, as two shots made it through in the second half for the Tiger's sixth and seventh goals.
  • Alex Reed set up Carrow on her first goal in the 61st minute, before Megan Niswonger tallied her second assist of the day, finding Carrow to mark the final Wittenberg goal just over a minute later.
  • Donnelly got the scoring started in the second half, capitalizing on the first Niswonger assist to give Wittenberg the 5-0 lead coming out of the intermission.
