Wittenberg Field Hockey Takes Down Sewanee

Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg University field hockey team got back to their winning ways on Sunday with a commanding 6-1 over the Sewanee Tigers. Sewanee may have started the scoring, but it was the Tigers of Wittenberg that would settle into their offense scoring their first goal just shy of the 13-minute mark and refusing to look back from there. Audrey Coler put the Tigers on the board first with her team-leading eighth goal of the season, coming on the assist from Riley Trexler. Trexler would get her own goal scoring opportunity before the first half would come to a close sending the Megan Niswonger assist into the back of the Sewanee net, giving Wittenberg the lead they would hold onto for the rest of the game.

GAME BREAKDOWN

  • Blaine Donnelly found the back of the Sewanee twice in the second half, with both goals coming via Coler assists.
  • Channa Visseren slotted her fourth goal of the season in the 39th minute for the Tigers, giving Wittenberg the 4-1 lead.
  • Katie Brown sealed the win for the Tigers with her first goal of the season in the 59th minute of action.
