Tigers Blanked at Centre; 2-0

DANVILLE, Kentucky—Wittenberg field hockey stepped way from NCAC play on Sunday afternoon, as the Tigers traveled across the Ohio boarder to take on the the Centre College Colonels in a non-conference tilt. Wittenberg has been a goal scoring machine as of late, but the Tiger offense was stifled by Centre, as Wittenberg dropped the match 2-0. The Tigers had their opportunities in the match, but could not get anything past Centre's goalie on Sunday. The loss puts the Tigers at 7-4 overall in 2016 as the team from Springfield looks to move back to NCAC play this week.

MATCH NOTES

  • The Tigers produced five shots on goal in the match, as Fleur Vaandrager, Maddie Goelz, and Paige Scharfenberger all produced one apiece.
  • Wittenberg was outshot by Centre 15-6 in the match, as the Tigers managed to produce one shot in the first half.
  • Wittenberg edged out Centre in saves, as Sarah Brownell made six in net for the Tigers.
