Red Hot Second Half Lifts Tigers Over Fighting Scots; 3-2

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio—After nearly a week's hiatus, the Wittenberg Tigers field hockey program took the field in Springfield on Friday, squaring off against NCAC opponent, and Coach Hubbell's alma mater, the College of Wooster. The Tigers came into Friday's action at full strength after the break, and after two overtime battles in previous NCAC games. Wittenberg was lead on the field by Riley Trexler, who netted two big goals for the Tigers, as the home team trailed late in the second half of Friday's action. At the final horn, Wittenberg had secured the victory 3-2 over the Fighting Scots after trailing 1-0 for most of the match. The Tigers move to 4-3 overall in 2016, and 2-2 in NCAC play after the victory. Wooster falls to 3-5 in 2016, and 1-3 in NCAC conference play with the loss.

  • Trexler's goals came less than four minutes apart from one another, as Audrey Coler dished out the assist on the second.
  • Wooster would tack on a late give-and-go goal to make things 3-2, but Wittenberg held on to win the NCAC game at the final horn.
