GAMBIER, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers played league-leading Kenyon as evenly as possible, but the Ladies made an early two-goal lead stand up in a 2-1 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) victory.

The win moved Kenyon to 13-1 overall and 10-0 in the NCAC. Wittenberg, which lost to Kenyon 5-1 at home on Sept. 19, dropped to 5-9 overall and 5-5 in the league. The Tigers remain in fourth place in the NCAC standings with four games to play, starting with a weekend homestand against Wooster and Oberlin on Oct. 24 and 25.

Kenyon opened the scoring with a goal in the 19th minute and added a second tally 14:10 into the second half. Wittenberg responded with a goal by freshman Blaine Donnelly (Hanover, Md./Archbishop Spalding) at the 53:24 mark off a feed by sophomore Brighid Kortyna (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) on a penalty corner play.

Wittenberg led Kenyon in shots in the game by a 19-13 margin, and the Tigers were awarded 10 penalty corners to eight for Kenyon. Individually, senior Paige Vanerstrom (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) led with seven shots in game, followed by sophomore Riley Trexler (Louisville, Ky./Atherton), Donnelly and Kortyna with three apiece.

Junior goalkeeper Laura Jansing (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) was credited with five saves for Wittenberg.
