OBERLIN, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers enjoyed a breakthrough of sorts at Oberlin with a 4-0 shutout of the Yeowomen.

The win was Wittenberg's first of the 2015 season after seven straight defeats while playing a challenging early season schedule. Oberlin dropped to 0-8.

Wittenberg dominated play throughout the game, piling up 22 shots by the final horn, compared to seven for Oberlin. The Tigers were awarded a whopping 16 penalty corners, while the Yeowomen finished with just three.

Twenty-two different Wittenberg players saw action in the game. Most of the substitutions took place after halftime as the Tigers finally built an insurmountable advantage.

Freshman Blaine Donnelly (Hanover, Md./Archbishop Spalding) started the scoring in the 24th minute as she banged home a shot from close range. The assist on the play went to freshman Isabella Wagner (Hilliard, Ohio/Bradley).

Donnelly made it 2-0 in the 46th minute off a feed from sophomore Maddie Goelz (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington). Freshman Robin Gevers (Beilen, The Netherlands/Dr. Nassau College) and senior Paige Vanerstrom (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) put the game out of reach with goals at the 53:36 and 69:43 marks. Senior Emma Foster (Westbury, NY/W.T. Clarke) and sophomore Macenzie Reed (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) took credit for the assists.

The shutout was Wittenberg's first of the 2015 season, and it made a winner out of junior Sarah Brownell (Ocnomowoc, Wis./University Lake School), who was credited with five saves.
