SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Wittenberg field hockey team fell to DePauw University by a score of 6-0 today at Edwards-Maurer Field, but the loss did nothing to change the Tigers' fourth seed in the upcoming North Coast Athletic Conference tournament.

Wittenberg will face Kenyon at 2:15 p.m. in Gambier, Ohio, in the semifinals of the NCAC tournament, the champion of which will receive the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament.

For Wittenberg, senior Beth Warning (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) led the offense with five shots, while senior Alena Mohler (Powell, Ohio/Pfafftown Reagan (NC)) stepped up for two defensive saves during the course of the game.

Other shooters for the offense included freshman Carlijn van den Berg (Zwolle, The Netherlands/Thorbecke) with three shots, senior Casey Fry (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) with two, and three others with one shot each.

Freshman Zara Tickner (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) joined Mohler in the defensive saves column with one.

Wittenberg fought its way into 10 penalty corners against six for the visitors.

In goal, sophomore Sarah Brownell (Oconomowoc, Wis./University Lake School) made 10 saves after relieving sophomore Laura Jansing (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) in the first half. Each keeper allowed three goals.
