SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Wittenberg field hockey team played down a player to match Oberlin's injury-riddled capacity, but still managed to put all available personnel on the field in a 7-0 win over the Yeowomen.

Senior Beth Warning (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) and senior Kim Loofbourrow (Prospect, Ky./Ballard) each finished the game with two goals. For Warning, it finished off a 5-goal week, including the game-winners in both weekend games.

They were backed up by a trio of other scorers who each posted one goal. They included freshman Maria Swearingen (Columbus, Ohio/Watterson) and her first collegiate goal, senior Kelly McLean (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook South) and freshman Carlijn van den Berg (Zwolle, The Netherlands/Thorbecke).

The Tiger defense, led by starters sophomore Michelle Murray (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny), junior Andrea Mattingly (Louisville, Ky./Mercy Academy) and freshman Zara Tickner (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) effectively locked Oberlin out of the Tigers' half of the field, limiting the Yeowomen to four shots against Wittenberg's 56.

Only one of Oberlin's four shots needed attention from sophomore goalkeeper Laura Jansing (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame), and she deflected it with no problem to collect the shutout.

The Tigers return to action in non-conference competition at Transylvania at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
