Tigers Fall On Road To NCAC Rival Kenyon

GAMBIER, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers fell into a 3-0 hole by halftime and never recovered, falling 5-2 on the road to North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival Kenyon.

The loss was Wittenberg's second in as many days against a top league contender, coming on the heels of 3-1 loss at home to Denison. The Tigers are now 3-5 overall and 2-2 in the NCAC, compared to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the league for the Ladies.

After 21 scoreless minutes, Kenyon struck three times in the span of seven minutes to take a commanding 3-0 advantage into the locker room. After senior Megan Loofbourrow (Prospect, Ky./Ballard) pulled one back on a breakaway in the 43rd minute, Kenyon took control again with two goals in a little more than two minutes.

Wittenberg senior Beth Warning (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) got the last goal of the game, off an assist from Loofbourrow.

The shot count finished 19-11 in favor of the Ladies, although the advantage was just 7-6 in the second half. Kenyon also led in penalty corner opportunities by an 11-6 margin.

Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Brownell (Ocnomowoc, Wis./University Lake School) was credited with 11 saves in the game.
