WOOSTER, Ohio - The College of Wooster avenged an early season loss to Wittenberg with a 5-3 decision that puts the Scots in the driver's seat for the fourth and final spot in the 2013 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament.

The loss dropped Wittenberg to 5-9 overall and 3-6 in the NCAC. Wooster improved to 7-6 overall and 5-4 in the league.

The Tigers jumped on top with a goal by junior Beth Warning (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) in the 12th minute, but Wooster answered with a pair of tallies prior to halftime to take a 2-1 lead. The Scots then effectively put the game out of reach with two goals just 1:11 apart in the second half.

Wittenberg pulled one goal back in the 58th minute as freshman Eva van Djikman (Den Haag, Netherlands/Christelijk Gymnasium Sorghvliet). After Wooster went back ahead by three goals, the Tigers closed out the scoring with a goal by sophomore Paige Vanerstrom (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) in the 68th minute.

Assists on the first two Wittenberg goals were credited to junior Kim Loofbourrow (Prospect, Ky./Ballard) and Vanerstrom.

Wittenberg outshot Wooster 19-13 in the game and held a commanding advantage in penalty corner opportunities at 13-4. In goal, freshmen goalkeepers Sarah Brownell (Ocnomowoc, Wis./University Lake School) and Laura Jansing (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) combined for four saves in the game.
