SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – In the first of two "Battles of the Tigers" of the 2013 season, it was visiting DePauw that came away with the title after a 4-0 defeat of Wittenberg on Saturday.

The nickname-sharing teams will meet again in the final regular season match for both programs on Friday, Nov. 1, at 3:30 p.m. in Greencastle, Ind., on the turf at Blackstock Stadium.

The host Tigers, which fell to 5-7 overall and 3-4 in the North Coast Athletic Conference, limited NCAC-leading DePauw to one goal in the first half while freshman goalkeeper Sarah Brownell (Ocnomowoc, Wis./University Lake School) made eight saves.

DePauw, now 9-3 overall and 7-0 in the NCAC, picked up momentum in the second period for three goals to make the final margin.

Brownell made 11 saves and allowed three goals in the match before freshman Laura Jansing (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) took over in the cage in the 47th minute, where she made five saves and allowed one goal.

DePauw's defense, which allows fewer than six shots per game on average in 2013, limited Wittenberg to five shots on offense. Individually, junior Kim Loofbourrow (Prospect, Ky./Ballard) led the effort with two shots, while junior Beth Warning (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame), junior Megan Loofbourrow (Prospect, Ky./Ballard) and junior Casey Fry (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) each shot once.

On defense, senior Mallory Skrobot (Dublin, Ohio/Watterson) came through with a defensive save in the first half, registering as her first of the season.

Wittenberg now begins its second trip through the double round robin NCAC schedule with a trip to Denison University in Granville, Ohio, on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 4:30 p.m.
