Greencastle, Ind. – The Wittenberg field hockey team's tough start to the 2012 season continued with a 6-0 loss at defending North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) champion DePauw.

For the second time in three games, the Tigers were held without a shot in a 6-0 loss. Wittenberg opened the season with a defeat at the hands of fourth-ranked Salisbury. Sandwiched in between was a 4-3 overtime loss to Wilkes in the consolation game of the Colonel Classic.

DePauw jumped on the visiting Tigers from the outset, finding the back of Wittenberg's cage just 46 seconds into the game. The host Tigers added another goal three minutes later, and by halftime the margin had expanded to 3-0. Wittenberg allowed a goal just 32 seconds into the second half as well, and DePauw rounded things out with a goal at the 45:16 mark and the final tally with a mere six seconds left on the game clock.

Junior goalkeeper Alie Marousek (Pittsburgh, Pa./Portsmouth (NH)) made her first start in the goal and was credited with nine saves while facing 21 DePauw shots. The host Tigers also held a commanding 13-1 advantage in penalty corner opportunities.

The road doesn't get much easier with a visit scheduled by NCAC rival Wooster for 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8.
