WILKES, Pa. - The Wittenberg field hockey team opened the 2012 season with a 6-0 loss to fourth-ranked Salisbury in a first round game at the Wilkes Colonel Classic.

The loss sends the Tigers into the tournament's consolation game on Saturday. Wittenberg will square off with host Wilkes at noon.

Junior goalkeeper Jessica Jensen (Hartland, Wisc./Arrowhead) was solid in the match, contributing nine saves to the team effort. However, the Tigers rarely were able to move the ball into Salisbury's half of the field, finishing the game without a single shot on the Seagulls' cage.
