Springfield, Ohio – Wittenberg University field hockey standout Kellen Morrissey (Aurora, Colo./Smoky Hill) has been selected to participate in the prestigious National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III Senior Game scheduled for 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17, on the campus of William Smith College in Geneva, NY.

Morrissey is one of 60 players chosen to participate in the 2012 game. She becomes the ninth Tiger student-athlete selected to play in the annual competition since 1990, including Elizabeth Dwyer, class of 2012, who played in the game a year ago.

Morrissey, a midfielder, led the Tigers offensively in 2012 with six goals and one assist for 13 total points. She was Wittenberg’s lone senior in 2012, and she played an important role in guiding a young team to a strong finish. After a 2-11 start, the Tigers finished the campaign with four wins in their last five games to finish 6-12 overall and 5-9 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC).

Morrissey has earned second-team All-NCAC honors each of the last two years in field hockey (the 2012 team has not yet been announced). She also claimed second-team All-Great Lakes Region honors in 2011 (the 2012 team has not yet been announced).

Morrissey has been just as dynamic for the Tiger women’s lacrosse team, earning first-team All-NCAC honors each of the last two seasons as a midfielder. In 2012, she helped Wittenberg women’s lacrosse to its best season in program history as the Tigers posted records of 12-5 overall and 6-0 in the conference.
