RICHMOND, Ind. — Nine different Wittenberg players contributed at least one goal or assist to a blistering offensive attack in an 11-1 road win over Earlham.
The Quakers, who are competing for the first time in all other sports in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, dropped to 2-3 on the young season, including a mark of 0-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC). Wittenberg is now 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the NCAC.
The game was tied 1-1 in the early going before the Tigers exploded for six unanswered goals to take a 7-1 lead into the halftime break. In the second half, Earlham was held without a shot as the Tigers tacked on four more tallies to account for the final margin.
Senior Tori Casanta (Mason, Ohio/Cor Jesu Academy), senior Boo Vernon (Lake Bluff, Ill./Cushing Academy) and freshmen Muriel Weinstein (Amsterdam, The Netherlands/Vossius) and Nina de Roos (The Netherlands/Maartens College) all finished with two goals in the game. Weinstein also added an assist.
Defensively, the Tigers weren't challenged much as they piled up a 38-1 advantage in shots.
