Non-Conference Loss Snaps Tiger Streak

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - A tough road loss for the Tiger women snapped a five-game winning streak when the Tigers fell at Bellarmine University by a 4-2 score. The Tigers took a break from their busy conference schedule to take on the Division II Knights, but could not manufacture enough offense to keep up their winning ways.

After falling behind 1-0 early, the Tigers knotted things up with a Darcey Caciano (St. Louis, Mo./Kirkwood) goal when she punched in a rebound in front of the cage. However, a pair of Knights goals on the bookends of halftime put the Tigers in another hole, down 3-1.

Boo Vernon (Lake Bluff, Ill./Cushing Academy) would pull one back in the 57th minute to get the Tigers within one. Credited with the assist on the Vernon strike was Taylor Dawley (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley), her first of the season. The second half rally would fall short, though, as Bellarmine tacked on one more goal late in the half to create the final result.

In goal for the Tigers, Alyssa Ashbaugh (Gahanna, Ohio/Columbus School for Girls) made seven saves, before Liana Began (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) took over for the final 10 minutes. Sophomores Tori Casanta (Mason, Ohio/Cor Jesu Academy) and Meredith Price (Highland Park, Ill./North Shore Country Day)were both credited with defensive saves in the game.

Diana Goggins' squad will return to conference play this Saturday, Oct. 25, when Kenyon visits Edwards-Maurer Field for a 12 p.m. start. The Ladies beat the Tigers 5-2 the last time these teams played, coming from Gambier earlier this season.
