Wittenberg Evens Conference Record With Win At Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers won their third game in five days with a 4-0 win over North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival, Oberlin.

The win moved the Tigers a season-best two games over .500 overall at 7-5, while their conference record is now 4-4. More importantly, the Tigers recorded a second straight shutout victory in her third start behind freshman goalkeeperAlyssa Ashbaugh (Gahanna, Ohio/Columbus School for Girls). She was credited with four saves in the game, less than 24 hours after shutting out Houghton at home on Friday.

Offensively, the Tigers turned to their usual scoring sources in sophomore forwardsTori Casanta (Mason, Ohio/Cor Jesu Academy) and Boo Vernon (Lake Bluff, Ill./Cushing Academy), who each found the back of the cage twice. Sophomore forward Hannah Scheckelhoff (Blacklick, Ohio/Columbus School for Girls), Vernon and junior Tori Vogelgesang (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Ursula) were credited with assists.

A whopping 48 shots were added to the final stats sheets, 28 for Wittenberg and 20 for Oberlin. The Tigers had the run of the first half with a 22-5 shots advantage, while Oberlin evened things up with a 15-6 edge in the final 35 minutes.
