Tigers Top Host Squad In First Round Of Wilson College Invitational

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Wittenberg Tigers got their long weekend road trip to Pennsylvania off on the right foot Saturday with a 1-0 win over the host team in the Wilson College Invitational.

The win evened the Tigers' record to 1-1 on the young season, while Wilson dropped to 1-2. Wittenberg advanced to play Ramapo, also a first-round winner, in the championship game at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The Tigers were unable to muster much in the way of offense, but an unassisted goal by freshman Tori Casanta (Mason, Ohio/Cor Jesu Academy) wound up being all they needed. Her goal, on one of just six Wittenberg shots - compared to 12 for Wilson, came with 7:14 remaining in the first half.

Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Umberger (Concord, NH/Derryfield School) made that stand up as she recorded six saves.
