SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - After dropping two straight games, including one to conference foe Wooster, the Tiger field hockey team was in overdrive on Tuesday, bulldozing Earlham for a 4-1 victory.

Among the highlights from the evening was the first goal in the collegiate career of freshman Florine Dunki Jacobs (Heemstede, The Netherlands/Stedelyk Gymnasium Haarlem). Freshman Boo Vernon (Lake Bluff, Ill./Cushing Academy) picked up two goals on the night, making it 12 on the season and earning points 24 and 25 on the second.

Freshman Tori Casanta (Mason, Ohio/Cor Jesu Academy) added the fourth goal late in the second period, just before Earlham struck for their only appearance on the scoreboard. Casanta also provided assists to Jacobs' and Vernon's goals, giving her four points for the night. Also credited with an assist was freshman Hannah Schecklehoff (Blacklick, Ohio/Columbus School for Girls), who now has three assists on the season.

In just her second game of the season, freshman Marisa Rogers (Loveland, Ohio/Ursuline) nabbed a spot in the stat book, making a defensive save in the second period to keep Earlham in check. Surely appreciative was freshman goalkeeper Liana Began (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson), who tended the net all 70 minutes in her first start as a Tiger.

With the win, the Tigers remained above .500 in the conference, moving to 3-2 in North Coast play and 6-4 overall.
