Wittenberg Falls At Wooster, 3-1

WOOSTER, Ohio - The Tiger field hockey team fell to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference on Saturday, with a 3-1 loss at Wooster. Despite shooting the ball 16 times, the Red & White could not overcome the Fighting Scots.

Tori Casanta (Mason, Ohio/Cor Jesu Academy) scored the Tigers' only goal unassisted late in the game. The Fighting Scots overpowered Wittenberg with 20 shots, including 14 in the first half as Wooster built an insurmountable 3-0 lead.

In a manner of speaking, Wittenberg won the second half but lost the war. The Tigers dominated most of the second half, but the goal deficit they faced was too much. Fourteen of Wittenberg's 16 shots in the game came during the final 35 minutes, but the Tigers were unable to find the back of the cage with 13 of those.

Beth Vonderbrink (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) came through on the defensive end with a save to help keep the game under control for the Tigers.

The team next hosts Sewanee on Sunday, Sept. 30, at 1 p.m. in Springfield, Ohio.
