Tigers Win Head Coach Kiki Chesterton's Debut, 1-0, Over Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, Ohio - The Wittenberg field hockey team got off to another strong start, winning its 2004 season opener by a 1-0 count at Ohio Wesleyan. It was the first win for Head Coach Kiki Chesterton as she opens a new era of field hockey at Wittenberg.

The Tigers were dominant from the outset, outshooting Ohio Wesleyan 20-3 for the game. Freshman goalkeeper Nicole Irvin was hardly pressured as she recorded one save in her collegiate debut, as opposed to 10 saves and one goal allowed for the Battling Bishops' netminder.

Ten minutes into the second half, sophomore Rachel Dunn put home the game's lone goal off a cross from sophomore Holly McHugh.

The Tigers, two-time defending NCAC Tournament champions, are back home on Saturday to open the home portion of the 2004 schedule against DePauw.
