Wittenberg Falls to Kenyon in Overtime

GAMBIER, Ohio - The Tigers' quest to win another conference title hit another speed bump Saturday as they fell to Kenyon 2-1 in overtime. The heartbreaking loss puts Wittenberg in a tie for the conference title with only one game remaining.

Wittenberg got on the board first when senior Blair Ufer fed sophomore Katy Barrett to put the Tigers on the board in the game's 14th minute. The Tigers' defense held off Kenyon to go into the half on top, 1-0.

The second half took a different turn as Kenyon outshot Wittenberg 12-4. Seniors Ashley Smith and Carrie Happ recorded defensive saves for the Tigers, but it wasn't enough when Kenyon scored in the games 62nd minute to tie it at 1-1.

In overtime, Kenyon went after the Tigers, outshooting them 5-0 before hitting the golden goal in six minutes.

The Tigers, now 12-3 overall and 8-3 in the NCAC, have the week off before traveling to co-leader Oberlin next Saturday to finish up their NCAC season.
