SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Time Warner Cable will continue its coverage
of Wittenberg University athletic events with a field hockey game
against Ohio Wesleyan on Oct. 29 at Edwards-Maurer Field.
The field hockey game will appear at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30
and 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2. The programs can be found on Time
Warner Cable systems on channel 25 or 69 in Dayton, channel 30 in
the Dayton suburbs and channel 59 in communities further north.
Subscribers are encouraged to check their local listings.
The Tiger field hockey team is currently ranked 17th in the nation
in NCAA Division III with a record of 14-3. Just as important is
the team’s mark of 9-2 in the North Coast Athletic
Conference, which puts Wittenberg atop the standings with one game
left in the annual regular season round robin. The game against
Ohio Wesleyan is Senior Recognition Night for the Tigers, at which
time five outstanding athletes will be recognized for their
contributions to the program.
Wittenberg and Denison are currently tied for first in the NCAC
standings, and each team has one game left on the 2002 regular
season schedule. If both teams win, either in regulation or
overtime, they will share the NCAC regular season championship, and
tiebreakers will come into play to affect the seeding of the
first-ever conference tournament, which begins with semifinal
action on Saturday, Nov. 2. The tournament title game will be
played at the campus of the highest remaining seed on Saturday,
Nov. 9. The winner of that game earns the NCAC’s automatic
bid to the NCAA Division III tournament, which begins Thursday,
Nov. 15.
