Wittenberg Falls to Denison

The Tigers had a tough week, as both Mother Nature and tough opponents played a role.

On Wednesday, Wittenberg led visiting Ohio Wesleyan 1-0 at halftime on a goal by senior Kati Robbins (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton). Thunder and lightning sent all in attendance scurrying for cover soon thereafter, and the game was suspended until Sept. 25, when the second half will be played.

Then on Friday, the Tigers played defending NCAC champion Denison to a scoreless draw before a frost-bitten crowd at Edwards-Maurer Field until the the Big Red netted a goal in the final moment of the game to win it 1-0 and pull even with the Tigers for the NCAC lead. Wittenberg defeated Denison on its home field, 2-1, earlier this season.

The Tigers continue to pursue the NCAC crown this week with a pair of home dates against Kenyon and Earlham. After two road games next week, Wittenberg completes the regular season with games at Ohio Wesleyan and Wooster, along with the conclusion of the suspended game against OWU.
