Former Tiger standout Jake Bowman has returned to his alma mater, taking over the responsibility for defensive backs.

Bowman played four years for Wittenberg as a tight end. He was a starter on the 2006 team that captured a North Coast Athletic Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

He spent the 2007 and 2008 seasons as a member of the Tigers' coaching staff, focusing his efforts on the tight ends as a student assistant coach. After graduating from Wittenberg with a degree in geography and a minor in art, Bowman got his first full-time coaching job at North Carolina Wesleyan, where he coached wide receivers and also served as the program's assistant strength and conditioning coach between 2008-10.

While working at North Carolina Wesleyan under Head Coach Mark Henninger, Wittenberg class of 1998, Bowman helped the fledgling program to a two-year record of 14-7, including the first conference title and postseason berth in its history.

Bowman then spent three seasons at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Va. He coached the defensive backs and special teams, served as recruiting coordinator and continued to assist with strength and conditioning while helping the team to a 22-8 record over three seasons.

Bowman and his wife, Erin, reside in Springfield.
