Dan Bauder joined the Tiger football coaching staff prior to the 2012 season after three seasons at his alma mater, Wartburg College, in Waverly, Iowa.

Bauder coached Wartburg’s wide receivers in 2009 and during spring practices in 2012, and he guided the team’s running backs in 2010 and 2011. He served as the program’s assistant recruiting coordinator in 2011, as well as its assistant strength and conditioning coach while also assisting with recruiting.

Before earning his bachelor of arts degree in fitness management from Wartburg in 2009, Bauder was a member of the Knights’ football team for four years, earning three varsity letters and serving as a team captain in 2008. He started at quarterback in 2006 before moving to wide receiver for the final two seasons of his collegiate career. The Knights won the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in 2008, and Wartburg boasted the league’s top-ranked passing attack in both 2007 and 2008.

While coaching at Wartburg, Bauder completed his master of arts degree in sports psychology at the University of Northern Iowa.
