Tigers Take Down Terriers in Homecoming Celebration

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Football team remains unbeaten in North Coast Athletic Conference play, with a 21-7 win over Hiram College. The Tigers improve to 4-1 on the season and 3-0 in conference action.

The Tigers dominated the ground attack with 279 yards to the Terriers 96. Garrett Gross would lead the Wittenberg backfield with 152 yards on 19 carries. Gross would break-out for his longest run of 27-yards, averaging eight yards-per-run. Bryce Anderson would find the endzone twice, racking up 126 yards on 25 carries.

Anderson put the Tigers on the board on their first possession, capping off a 78-yard scoring drive with a three-yard dive into the endzone. He would run in for the final Wittenberg touchdown of the game with just under five minutes remaining in the game, closing out a 14-play 87-yard scoring drive.

Max Milton completed 17 of 23 passes for 105 yards through the air. Dean Tate would be Milton's leading target with nine catches for 62 yards.

The Wittenberg defense would come up with two pivotal interceptions to slow the Hiram offense. Darian Williams came up with the first Tiger interception in the Hiram endzone, keeping the Terriers off the board to start the second quarter.

Christian Sweet tallied his second interception of the season. Sweet stopped the Hiram drive attempt just as it was breaking into Wittenberg territory.

Tyre Smith finished leading the Tiger defense in tackles with 10 in total. Conner Walls added six tackles including one for a loss and two quarterback hurries.
