Josh Bannick Named To D3Football.com Team Of The Week

Springfield, Ohio – Following his tremendous performance against DePauw University on Sept. 20, Wittenberg University junior defensive tackle Josh Bannick (Enon, Ohio/Greenon) has earned a spot on the Team of the Week from D3football.com.

As a defense, Wittenberg forced seven DePauw turnovers in the game, helping the host Tigers overcome a 17-17 deadlock at halftime to score 17 unanswered points over the final 30 minutes. A first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) honoree in 2013, Bannick was directly responsible for two of the opposing Tigers' miscues, including his hit at the DePauw 1-yard line in the fourth quarter that led to Wittenberg's final seven points of the game. Bannick led the Tigers with 11 tackles in the game, including 1.5 for loss.

For the season, Bannick ranks second on the team with 17 tackles. In addition, he has broken up two passes. A year ago, Bannick ranked fifth on the team with 59 tackles, including seven tackles for loss, and he added two blocked kicks.

Ranked 18th nationally by D3football.com and 22nd by the American Football Coaches Association, Wittenberg stands 1-1 on the 2014 season. Following a 22-16 loss to NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision powerhouse Butler, the Tigers bounced back to defeat DePauw 34-17. Next up for Wittenberg is a road trip at Oberlin on Saturday, Sept. 27.
