The Wittenberg University football team, which returns nine starters from last year's 10-1 team, once again has experts believing it has the talent to make a run at a national championship.

Jeremy Block, class of 2011 from Pittsburgh, Pa., is one of 671 student-athletes from 241 schools who qualified for induction into the National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society.

A year after former Wittenberg football standout Kyle Lohrman earned Defensive Most Valuable Player honors in the inaugural OhioCollegeFootball.com Senior Bowl, Eddie Vallery, class of 2011 from South Solon, Ohio, duplicated the feat in the 2011 edition of the game.

Four student-athletes who played key roles in the recent resurgence of the Wittenberg University football program have been selected to play one more collegiate game. Eddie Vallery, Brad McKinley, Keenan Freeman and Anthony Kralich will compete for the South team in the second annual OhioCollegeFootball.com Bowl at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

As a collegian, Eddie Vallery, class of 2011 from South Solon, Ohio, broke the mold for Wittenberg University football players. He became the first Tiger to earn national Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2009, and he was just the second student-athlete in program history to earn back-to-back All-America awards from the American Football Coaches Association.

Another successful fall sports season was capped by a tremendous haul of postseason awards from the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC).

Football standouts Josh McKee, class of 2012 from New Carlisle, Ohio, and defensive tackle Adam Kattoua, class of 2011 from Upper Arlington, Ohio, have capped the 2010 season with All-America honors from d3football.com.

Three members of Wittenberg University's North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) championship football team have been selected to play in the 2010 All-American Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 18, in Minneapolis, Minn.

It was a terrific run to the national quarterfinals for the 2009 Wittenberg football team, and Dillon Hollin, class of 2010, remembers it fondly. Now living in Memphis, Tenn., and training for a corporate sales position, Hollin got a big surprise during Thanksgiving weekend 2010 - a call from his former coach, Joe Fincham, to tell him that he had recently been selected winner of the 2009 Rimington Award, given to the top center in NCAA Division III.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A total of 20 Tiger football standouts earned 2010 All-NCAC awards, led by junior quarterback Ben Zoeller (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier), the Offensive Player of the Year, and Head Coach Joe Fincham, the Coach of the Year.

The Wittenberg Tigers were bidding to become the first non-Division I program to win 700 games all-time, but that will have to wait until the 2011 season.

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers came into the 2010 season with the loftiest of expectations, and despite some unexpected challenges along the way the Tigers completed a second straight regular season with a perfect 10-0 record.

The Wittenberg defense came up with the big plays when they were needed the most, keying a fourth-quarter rally that gave the Tigers a 22-17 win over host Wooster and their second consecutive outright North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) championship.
