Darren Himsworth is in his 6th season with the Wittenberg Tiger baseball program, and the 2022 season will be the second season he serves as Head Assistant and Recruiting Coordinator. In this role, Himsworth is in charge of the development of the Tiger infielders while overseeing the defense as a whole. He also works with the hitters and serves as the team’s first base coach during games. One of the longest tenured coaches on staff for the Tigers, Himsworth has been in the dugout with Coach McGee at Wittenberg and has played an instrumental role in the progression of the program since his hiring.

In 2021, Himsworth helped guide the program to their highest winning percentage since 1998, highlighted by a season opening win at NCAA Division I Akron. Even in the shortened season, the Tigers were still able to win 21 games, the most in the program since 2013.

Under Himsworth's tutelage, the Tigers' defense has found the top 8 all-time rank in program history 3 times with a .952 fielding % in 2017 (8th), .955 fielding % in 2019 (4th). Most recently, the Himsworth defense shattered the previous team record with a .971 fielding % in 2021, the previous mark of .965 stood since 2005. The 2021 season also saw veteran infielder Ryan Probst move to 3rd all-time in assists with 340 and Jack Siefert to 2nd all-time in putouts with 737.

Offensively, the Tigers have blossomed year-to-year. In 2021, they hit 25 home runs, the most since 2003. Himsworth has guided several Tiger position players to All North Coast Athletic Conference awards. Most recently, Jack Hollinshead received First Team All-NCAC and Third Team All-Mideast Region, posting a slash line of .367/.455/.789 and hitting 13 home runs with 42 RBIs. Hollinshead finished 10th in the nation in home runs per game. In 2019, Hollinshead also led the Tigers' offense, hitting .419/.500/.629, a clip that put him at Top 50 in the entire country. He would go on to be selected as Second Team All-NCAC. Jack Siefert also received Honorable Mention NCAC as a 1st Baseman after leading the team in home runs with 6 and hitting .324. In 2017, Patrick Kenny (C) and Matt Baker (OF) were each designated All-NCAC Honorable Mention selections. Kenny hit .407 with 3 home runs and Baker hit .348 with 1 home run. As a team the Tigers offense has progress each year: .280 (2017), .285 (2018), .294 (2019).

Himsworth graduated high school from Vandalia-Butler in 2009 where he holds the single-season fielding percentage record of 1.000% in 124 chances as an infielder. He graduated from Notre Dame College in 2014 where he was a four-year member of the Falcons infield. Received his Business Administration and Sport Management degrees from Notre Dame College, while also picking up a minor in Entrepreneurship. He currently resides in his hometown Vandalia, OH.
