Tigers Defeat Wooster In Opening Round of NCAC Tournament

Chillicothe, OH – The North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament opened up on Thursday evening, with the second-seeded Wittenberg Tiger Baseball team taking down the third seed College of Wooster Fighting Scots, 6-3.

This is the Tiger's first in the NCAC Tournament since 2006 when they last defeated Wooster in the opening round, 8-7.

Wittenberg collected 13 hits on the night. Leadoff batter Luke Thomas tallied four hits in five trips to the plate, with a pair of doubles and four RBI.

Ian Ash and Parker Gryskevich kept the momentum going for the Tigers, adding a pair of hits each. Gryskevich drove in one run including a double.

Nick Cunningham improved to 7-3 on the season, putting in six innings of work on the hill. Cunningham allowed six hits with five strikeouts, against 27 batters faced. Charlie Schafer recorded his fourth save of the season, shutting down the Fighting Scots over the final three innings. Schafer allowed just one hit with one strikeout.
