Tigers Win Streak Ends Against No. 19 Marietta

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger baseball team fell to No. 19 Marietta College, 18-5, in a non-conference showdown under the lights at Carleton Davidson Stadium. Wittenberg managed nine hits on the night, while giving up 21 to Marietta.

Falling behind early, after a five-run first inning by the Pioneers. Wittenberg chipped away at the visitor's advantage, scoring one run in each the second and third inning. Marietta responded with one more run of their own in the top of the fourth. The Tiger offense answered in the bottom half of the fourth, scoring two runs, making it a 6-4 ballgame.

After a Marietta five-run fifth inning, the Wittenberg offense would plate just one final run in the bottom half of the inning.

Chase Whisner and Luke Thomas were the only Tigers to post multiple hits on the evening. Whisner finished the night 2 for 4, including a double with an RBI and a run scored. Thomas went 2 for 3 with a run scored.
