Tigers Score Runs In Bunches Against Albion

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Baseball team continued their hot play on their home field, sweeping Albion College in the two-game series. Wittenberg took game one from the Britons, 15-6, collecting 14 hits.

The Tiger offense sparked in the late stages of game one, going off for back-to-back five run innings in the sixth and seventh innings, before adding three more in the eighth.

Wittenberg kept the momentum going into the final game of the series with the Britons, taking game two by way of a 12-7 decision. The Tigers scored in bunches early, plating three runs in both the first in the second inning and capping the onslaught with five more in the third. After four scoreless innings by both sides, Albion broke the drought with four runs in the eighth. Wittenberg would steal one back in the bottom half of the inning for the final score of the game.  

Wittenberg launched four homeruns on the day. Chase Whisner, Matt Moore and Ian Ash all going deep in game one for the Tigers. Rocco Royer got in on the big fly action in game two, finishing his day 4 of 5 from the plate.

Whisner would finish the day 4 of 8 from the plate, driving in six runs with three walks drawn in the second game. Moore drove in three runs between the two games, going 4 of 9 in trips to the plate.

Conor O'Malley and Michael Bronowski would each tally multiple hits in both games against the Britons.

Michael Osmond took the hill to start game one against Albion. Osmond put in five innings of work, allowing eight hits and striking out seven. Justin Maynard would come in to secure the win with one inning pitched, allowing one hit and striking out one.  

Austin Luther earned the win from the bump in game two for the Tigers. With 6.2 innings pitched, Luther allowed five hits with nine strikeouts.
