Game Breakdown

The two sides slugged it out in game one, as the Tigers were the first to strike, the Big Red seemed to have a response for every run scored. Wittenberg put up one run each in the first and second inning. Denison answered by scoring two of their own in the bottom of the fourth and adding four in the second inning. The Tiger offense came alive in the fourth inning, trailing 6-2. Wittenberg rallied to score six runs, starting with a three-RBI double to left-center by Whisner, bringing Wittenberg to within one. A double by Gabe Stacy to right scored Whisner and knotted things up at 6-6. Patrick Kenny kept the rally rolling with a single down the line in left, putting Wittenberg back on top at 7-6. A single through the right side by Jack Siefert capped off the Tiger rally, closing out the inning ahead 8-6. After a scoreless fifth by both sides, Denison posted four runs in the bottom of the sixth, regaining a two-run lead and holding on through the seventh.

It was a gritty game two performance between the two NCAC foes as the one and only run didn't come around to score until the seventh and final inning of action. A double to left from Whisner scored Connor Goss, giving Wittenberg the 1-0 advantage. Goss put together a 3 for 3 day from the plate with a double, splitting time between second and third on the defensive side.
