Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg University baseball team took down the Quakers of Wilmington College 18-6 on Wednesday night. Wittenberg tallied 16 hits, while five different Tigers tallied multiple hits on the night. Hayden Knox led the Tiger offense with three hits in five at-bats, including driving in three runs on a three-run home run in the fourth inning, extending the Tiger advantage to 6-2. Jace Barga took the hill for the Red and White, picking up his first win of the season. Barga put in six and a third innings of work while striking out four with just three hits allowed.
Game Breakdown
After a scoreless first inning, Wittenberg jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning coming off of a Tanner Boros homer, driving in Mason Davis. Davis would come back around in the bottom of the third inning with an RBI double to left field, bringing home the third Tiger run. After Knox went deep in the fourth, Wittenberg posted four more runs in the sixth inning. Patrick Kenny started off the Tiger scoring rally with an RBI single, bringing home Knox. As three more runs came across in the sixth inning, Wittenberg added five more runs to their advantage in the seventh inning. While the Quakers were able to respond to Wittenberg's early offensive presence with two runs of their own in the fourth inning. Wittenberg held the Quakers scoreless until the ninth, when the visitors posted six runs, before falling short in their comeback attempt.
Who Stood Out
Davis finished the game with a pair of extra-base hits for the Red and White to go along with four RBI's on the evening. Boros drove in five runs for Wittenberg, along with Kenny adding three runs batted in.

Wittenberg will open up NCAC action on Saturday, Mar. 30 traveling to Granville, Ohio to take on the Big Red of Denison University in a doubleheader set for 1:00 PM.
