Back on September 3, 2018, senior general managers for team Three-Peat, Matt Baker (OF) and Brandon Beegle (RHP), had the vision to assemble a team which could bring them a Tiger Cup championship.  On Saturday, September 29, 2018, that vision of draft day came to light up the field, as team Three-Peat proved just that by winning the 2018 Tiger Cup championship in dominating fashion over the Red Hot Flames by a score of 13-2.

The live draft was held in Carnegie Hall on the campus of Wittenberg University.  Senior players are split up into two teams and asked to go before the entire team in a live draft environment.  The seniors then participate in the selection of their players in a ten-round draft format to select their teams.  The remaining non-drafted players are then split up by head coach Brian McGee to even out the balance of the teams positionally. Three-Peat owned the first overall pick in the draft and selected Gage Carpenter (Soph/OF).

On gameday, a wonderful breakfast tail-gate party started the day for the parents. A player introduction ceremony followed just before first pitch.

During the game, we saw nearly 200 spectators on hand in support of the team and witnessed great performances. Gage Carpenter (Soph/OF) was honored with the MVP award after his performance of two-hit, three runs, and an RBI.  Tanner Boros (Soph/LHP/OF), also selected by Three-Peat, garnered Pitcher of the Game Honors for throwing a scoreless no-hit inning with a strikeout.

Other notable performers for champion team Three-Peat were; Mason Davis (Soph/1B) two-hit, one run, two RBI, and extra-base hits provided by Gabe Stacy (SOPH/INF), David Hamrick (SOPH/INF), Mike Martin (Soph/LHP/OF), and Jeff Chonko (Soph/C).  From the pitching front, Parker Tietz (Soph/RHP), last year's Pitcher of the Game, came close again with his scoreless no-hit with one K inning performance as well.

Despite a loss for the Red Hot Flames and senior general managers Jace Barga (LHP) and Greg Vanerstrom (INF), some players were hot in their individual performances.  Patrick Kenny (Jr/OF/C) had a three-hit, one run day.  Teammates Hayden Knox (Soph/INF) chipped in two hits himself, Jack Siefert (Soph/1B) added an RBI double, and Brock Tatum (Fr/OF) drove in a run by singling late in the game.  Senior general manager Jace Barga tossed two scoreless no-hit innings, Rusty Hayhurst (Soph/RHP) came in relief to give his team two scoreless innings with two K's, and both Ryan Black (Fr/RHP) and Michael Osmond (Fr/LHP/OF) had a scoreless no-hit inning with two K's a piece.

After the game, the families and players gathered together for a family day picnic with enough food to feed an army.  Families and players sat together in our covered picnic area while enjoying a great meal over each other's company.  Finally, the day ended with some announcements from head coach McGee and the prestigious 2018 Team Season Awards were announced and then presented to the honorary recipients. Overall, it was a great day for the program.

Thank you again to all the families for their attendance, contributions, and show of support!
