GREENCASTLE, Indiana—Tiger baseball got a taste of their own medicine on Sunday, one day after sweeping a double-header from host DePauw, the Tigers of Wittenberg found themselves on the wrong end of the deal, losing both games 4-1 and 13-2. The Tigers outstanding hitting and pitching performances one day earlier did not carry over to Sunday, as both facets of the game struggled in the NCAC losses. Wittenberg's offense was neutralized by DePauw's starters, as the Tigers were only able to muster up six hits in 14 innings. The losses put the Tigers at a 6-10 mark on the season, and a 2-2 mark in conference play.
GAME 1 NOTES
- The Tigers offense was less than stellar in the loss, as only two Tigers recorded hits, Marshall Eippert (Milford, Ohio/Moeller) and Cal Slusarz (Chesterland, Ohio/West Geauga).
- Wittenberg's lone run came off the bat of Slusarz, who drove in Eippert after his base hit in the sixth innings.
- Three different pitchers toed the rubber for the Tigers, allowing four earned runs on eight walks in the loss.
- DePauw threatened nearly every inning in the seven inning game, scoring in the first, third, fifth, and sixth innings.
GAME 2 NOTES
- Game two was more of the same for Wittenberg's lineup, as the Tigers produced four hits in the 13-2 loss.
- Corey Farnbauch (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson) pinch hit double scored two runs for the Tigers as the senior added to his RBI total.
- Freshman Brad Malott (Middletown, Ohio/Madison) played stellar defense all weekend for the Tigers, and also added a stolen base for the visitor.
- In the game, the Tigers were able to turn five double-plays and only commit one error.
UP NEXT
- Wittenberg is back in action this Wednesday at Ohio Northern University, with first-pitch set for 4:00PM.
