Tigers Wrap Up Season With Loss At Hiram

HIRAM, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers put the finishing touches on the 2015 season with a 16-6 loss at Hiram in the rubber game of their North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Crossover Series.

The loss dropped Wittenberg to 10-24 overall and 5-14 in the NCAC, and the Tigers finished in 10th place in the final league standings. Hiram improved to 10-27 overall and 5-14 in the NCAC, and the Terriers finished ninth.

After Wittenberg opened with a run in the second inning, the Terriers jumped on top with three runs in the third and scored at least one run over the next four innings to build an insurmountable lead. Wittenberg did hold a 5-4 lead at the conclusion of the fourth inning, but Hiram rallied with two runs in the fifth, four in the sixth and five in the seventh.

Both teams committed a whopping six errors in the game, while the two offenses combined for 27 hits. Just two of Wittenberg's runs were earned, while Hiram plated six runs of the unearned variety.

Junior Will Cousins (Medfield, Mass./Medfield), freshman Timmy Bates (Westerville, Ohio/South), freshman Eli Goolsby-Broschart (Indianapolis, Ind./Scecina Memorial), junior Corey Farnbauch (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson) and sophomore Trent Champlin (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) each finished with two hits in the game. Goolsby-Broschart homered for the second straight day and scored twice in the game.

Junior Jordan Hitt (South Charleston, Ohio/Southeastern) allowed eight runs (five earned) on eight hits and three walks in five innings to take the loss.
