Tigers Stopped By #18 Baldwin Wallace

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers took the field at Carleton Davidson Stadium in non-conference mid-week action and suffered a 14-2 loss to 18th-ranked Baldwin Wallace.

The loss dropped Wittenberg to 5-17, while Baldwin Wallace improved to 19-7.

The Yellow Jackets scored in six of the nine innings to slowly pull away from the Tigers, who have four more non-conference games on tap for the weekend against Case Western. Wittenberg and Case Western will play to two games in Cleveland on Saturday and two games in Springfield on Sunday.

Wittenberg was limited to two runs, coming in the third and seventh innings. Sophomore Dalton Boucher (Granville, Ohio/Granville) collected a pair of doubles, including one that drove in a run. Senior Zac Wilson (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) reached base three times and scored twice in the game.

Five Tigers pitchers toed the rubber, starting with senior Mike Burgher (Birmingham, Mich./Seaholm), who allowed six runs on nine hits in five innings to take the loss. The most effective Tiger reliever was freshman Tanner Combs (Wytheville, Va./George Wythe), who pitched a scoreless ninth inning, striking out three BW hitters.
