Baseball Season Concludes With Loss To Kenyon

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Wittenberg baseball team wrapped up the 2014 season with a single, nine-inning game against the Kenyon Lords at Carleton Davidson Stadium. The Tigers fell 3-1 in the season finale.

The Tigers went 1-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference crossover weekend series with Kenyon after splitting on Saturday.

In the bottom of the first, the Tigers picked up a run when senior Tyler Hutchinson (Lebanon, Ohio/Cincinnati Moeller) reached on a throwing error and junior Zac Wilson (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton), who also reached on an error, came around to score.

Kenyon, meanwhile, scored one run in the second inning and two in the fourth, all off of freshman Tyler Powell (Urbana, Ohio/Urbana), who pitched well, limiting the Lords to four hits and one walk with one strikeout in 5-1/3 innings pitched.

Senior Jonathan Long (Hilliard, Ohio/Darby) and junior Stu Haley (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) each pitched in relief. Long allowed one hit while Haley threw 3-1/3 innings and kept Kenyon to two hits and no runs with two strikeouts.

Senior Brandon Jordan (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) finished the game 2-for-3 with a walk to lead the Tiger lineup. Freshman Ben Dobrowolski (Milford, Ohio/Milford) was 1-for-3 and senior David Moore (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe) went 1-for-2.

The Tigers finish the 2014 season with a North Coast Athletic Conference record of 4-15 and an overall mark of 11-29.
