GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The Wittenberg Tigers dropped a pair of North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) West Division games at DePauw by scores of 8-1 and 12-7.

The losses dropped Wittenberg to 9-24 on the 2014 season and 2-12 in the NCAC West. DePauw improved to 14-16 overall and 9-5 in the division. The two teams will close out the NCAC West regular season schedule with two more games on Sunday, also at DePauw.

The day's results mean that Wittenberg will finish fifth in the West Division and will host a best-of-three NCAC Crossover Weekend series May 3-4 against the fifth-place team from the East Division.

In the opener, the host Tigers jumped on top with two runs in the first and never looked back. Junior Frank Sullivan (Milford, Ohio/Milford) started and took the pitching loss after going 3.1 innings, allowing seven runs (three earned) on four hits and four walks.

Offensively, the visiting Tigers managed just three hits. Their lone run came on a groundout by senior Alex Lochard (Sidney, Ohio/Sidney) that allowed senior Tyler Hutchinson (Lebanon, Ohio/Cincinnati Moeller) to cross the plate.

Game 2 also went DePauw's way from the outset as the host Tigers piled up six runs in the first two innings. Wittenberg battled back to tie the game at 6-6 in the fifth inning, but DePauw took control again with three runs in the sixth and eighth innings that were countered by one run in the ninth by the visiting Tigers.

Five Tigers took the hill for Wittenberg, with Lochard taking the loss in relief. He allowed three earned runs - the first he has yielded in four appearances this year - in two innings.

Sophomore Will Cousins (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) led the offense with a perfect 4-for-4 performance at the plate, with one run scored and three runs batted in. Senior David Moore (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe) went 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs and junior Zac Wilson (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) added three hits and two runs from his lead-off spot.
