Muskies Take Decision Off Tigers In Midweek Contest

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Wittenberg baseball team dropped a midweek contest against Muskingum by a score of 12-3, falling to 9-22 overall in the process.

Senior David Moore (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe) went 2-for-4 in the loss and drove in a run with a triple to lead the order. Junior Zac Wilson (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) was 1-for-4 in the leadoff spot with a double and an RBI, and senior Brandon Jordan (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) had an RBI on 1-for-3 hitting.

Freshman Dalton Boucher (Granville, Ohio/Granville) went 1-for-3, senior Tyler Hutchinson (Lebanon, Ohio/Cincinnati Moeller) was 1-for-4 with a run scored, as was senior Alex Lochard (Sidney, Ohio/Sidney) with a double.

The Tigers threw 10 pitchers in the game. Freshman starter Ryan Patrick (Eldorado, Ohio/Tri-County North) took the loss on one inning pitched, allowing two runs but no earned runs on two hits.

Junior Stu Haley (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) threw 1-1/3 innings of hitless, scoreless relief with one strikeout, and freshman Keith Orzen (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) also logged a scoreless 1-1/3 innings with one hit. Freshman Danny Callahan (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) pitched an inning and allowed one hit and no runs.

Muskingum posted two runs in the first inning and followed it up with three in the second. The third passed without incident but the Muskies scored one in the fourth, then added another in the sixth, two in the eighth and three more in the ninth.

The Tigers got a run in the first on Moore's triple into right center and tacked on another in the second when Lochard doubled and Jordan singled him in. In the fourth, Wilson accounted for the Tigers' third run with a sacrifice fly.

Wittenberg wraps up the North Coast Athletic Conference West Division schedule with a four-game series at DePauw, featuring Noon doubleheaders in Greencastle, Indiana, on Saturday, April 26, and Sunday, April 27.
