Tigers Split NCAC Finale With Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, Ohio - With the 2009 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) West Division season wrapping up, Head Coach Jay Lewis' team battled hard for one final strong showing as they took one of two rescheduled games from the division-winning Battling Bishops. The Tigers dropped the first affair 8-2 before a stellar performance on the hill from senior Tim Antil (Brookville, Ohio/Northmont) shut down Ohio Wesleyan in a 4-1 win in the nightcap.

Antil, showing some of the vintage pitching that earned him an All-NCAC selection a year ago, only allowed five hits and a lone run in his complete-game gem. He also struck out seven while waiting for his offense to ensure the win.

His teammates came through in the late innings, as sophomore Ray Noe (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) tied the game with an RBI triple before coming home as the go-ahead run on a sophomore Zach Spring (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) double. The Tigers added insurance in the seventh to split the overall four-game set with the Bishops.

Sophomore Stefan Kegler (Columbus, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) provided the aluminum in Game 1 with a pair of hits in the losing effort.

As the regular season winds down, the Tigers return home for two contests, with the first coming on Tuesday, April 28 as Wittenberg entertains the Student Princes of Heidelberg for a 7 p.m. nine-inning contest.
