Errors Lead to Nine-Run Inning And Loss For Tigers Against Mount Union

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - The Wittenberg Tigers did everything right in the field, except for one disastrous inning. A nine-run sixth inning, fueled by three Wittenberg errors, gave Mount Union a 9-4 Spring Break trip victory.

The loss dropped Wittenberg to 1-2 on the young season.

The Tigers got a solid start from senior Steve Less, who allowed three hits and three walks in five innings, but he was charged with seven runs, six of which were unearned. He was relieved by Joel Puthoff, who allowed two more unearned runs, and Chris Green, who cleaned things up with two innings of three-hit relief in his first collegiate appearance.

Offensively, Wittenberg left 11 runners on base and managed just one run in four separate innings. Patrick Williams, Jon Fox, K.R. Schlievert and Matt Berry had two hits apiece to lead the Tigers, and Williams scored both times he reached base.
