Wittenberg vs. Thomas More

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Tiger baseball team suffered a couple of blows on Sunday as they were torched by Thomas More College, 9-2 and 13-0. The 13-0 loss is the worst one this season for the Tigers. In the first game Brad Koopman's (Pleasant Hill, Ohio/Newton) home run in the seventh inning kept the Tigers from being shut out twice in one day.

Sunday was just an off day for the Tigers as they couldn't find their bearing on the mound, in the field or at the plate. The Tigers fell to 13-13 for the season and remained at 4-4 in North Coast Athletic Conference West Division play. The Tigers were led in the first game by Koopman who single-handedly broke up a two-hit shutout in the seventh with his homer, his second of the season.

In the second game the Tigers got little offensive production from their lineup. The one bright spot on the day was sophomore Andrew Wellman (Huntington, W.Va./Huntington) who went 2-for-2 at the plate with one walk.

The Tiger pitchers had trouble all day long as the Thomas More bats continued to make contact and send the ball into the gaps.

Up next for the Tigers will be a contest with NAIA school Cedarville University on Monday, April 11. This game has been rescheduled from March 14 due to poor weather.
