Q & A with Dr. Gary

-Madeline Kraft ’16, Swimming, Music & Business Management major

Q: What is your favorite class experience/ professor experience at Wittenberg?

A: I have been a part of the Communication and Business Leadership Experience group (CABLE) for the past year. I have learned so much about myself and the professional world through this experience. The most rewarding aspect of this group was the case study we worked on and then presented to Google and their Anheuser-Busch account team in Chicago! It was an incredibly challenging yet rewarding experience.

Q: What is your most memorable sports moment at Witt?

A: I don't think I can choose one moment! My involvement with the swim and dive team has provided me with so many memorable moments in and out of the pool. One being last year at conference our Women's 200 Medley relay had an All-Conference finish. It was an amazing moment and to be able to share it with my teammates made it even sweeter!

Q: To you, what does it mean to Tiger Up?

A: Tiger Up is a rally cry, a uniting phrase for Tigers young and old. To Tiger Up is to strive to be the best you can be not only for yourself but for your team and for Wittenberg. To Tiger Up is to come together as a team and work for a common goal, to Tiger Up is to leave it all in the pool. Tiger Up not only refers to athletics but to every aspect of Wittenberg and its community. It's working hard, passing your light on and upholding the ideals and mission of Wittenberg.

Q: What is the most valuable thing you have learned through your sport that is applicable to life?

A: Swimming has taught me how to push my limits. I have accomplished achievements I never thought I could. As my life beyond swimming continues to develop this lesson will always stay with me. I am capable of more than I know and to keep pushing my limits will open new doors and opportunities that I may not have originally seen for myself.

Q: What do you see yourself doing after Witt?

A: After graduation in May my life is still a bit hazy but I'm planning to spend some time traveling my way through Europe. I'm hoping to get an internship or job in event management moving forward but nothing is set in stone just yet! All I know is I want to be happy where ever I end up.

Q: How did you get involved in your sport? (When did you get involved in your sport? Why did you get involved in your sport?)

A: I have been swimming for as long as I can remember. My whole family is a big swim family so we started young. I've been swimming for about 14 years and don't regret it one bit. It has provided me with so many lasting friendships and an endless supply of wonderful memories. It's taught me more life lessons than I ever would have expected and has helped to shape me into the individual I am today.
