Q & A with Dr. Gary, Featuring Jessica Harting, Women's Tennis

Jessica Harting ’16, Tennis, Psychology major

Q: What is your favorite class experience/ professor experience at Wittenberg?

A: I don't have just one favorite class experience. My favorite class experiences have been my research classes within the Psychology department. I have had many opportunities to study novel ideas and some controversial topics. My psychology professors have encouraged my peers and I to question everything and to enjoy looking for our answers.

Q: To you, what does it mean to Tiger Up?

A: To me Tiger up means getting excited and rallying behind our sports teams. Putting pride and work in our efforts on the courts and in our academic lives.

Q: What is your favorite place on campus (to hangout, socialize, etc.)?

A: My favorite place on campus is the hollow. When the weather permits I love to meet friends and sit in the sun just to hang out or do homework. It's relaxing and in the center of campus so you never know who you'll see.

Q: What is the most valuable thing you have learned through your sport that is applicable to life?

A: The valuable thing that tennis has taught me is to not let mistakes throw off your entire game. Learn and correct the mistake that you've made. Practice and experience are the best teachers.

Q: What do you see yourself doing after Witt?

A: After Witt I plan on attending graduate school for Occupational Therapy and further down the road opening my own practice.

Q: After your time at Wittenberg, how will you pass the light on to others?

A: After my time at Witt I hope to pass the light on to others by encouraging them to pursue their dream no matter how big and daunting they are. To me passing on light to others is showing them that they can make their dreams into plans.
