Wittenberg University Men’s Basketball Tradition of Success

The Wittenberg University men’s basketball program is the all-time winningest NCAA Division III program in the country measured by both total number of victories and winning percentage.  The Tigers have participated in more NCAA tournaments and Final Fours than any other DIII program in the nation.  Taking all NCAA divisions into account, the Tigers have the third best winning percentage, which places then in front of such esteemed programs as Duke, Kansas and UCLA.

Philosophy of Wittenberg Team Camps

“Our team camp is focused on giving teams the most game time as possible in a two-day time period.  This is why we do not take more than 24 teams into the camp.  Our court and game setup requires teams to have minimal “downtime” between their scheduled camp games.  And there is no question that with our main gym, our residence hall and our cafeteria all being air-conditioned, all teams are much more able to maintain their best energy levels even during the heat of the summer.”

--- Bill Brown, Wittenberg University Men’s Head Basketball Coach

Camp Director

Matt Croci is the Associate Head Coach for Wittenberg and brings 17 years of collegiate coaching experience, including 7 as a head coach. Croci has over 20 years of summer camp experience and holds the distinction as the only person in the history of the North Coast Athletic Conference to be named both Player of the Year (1994) and Coach of the Year (2008) The camp staff will include some of Ohio’s best high school and college coaches in addition to current Wittenberg players and coaches. Wittenberg’s program is the all-time winningest NCAA Division III program in the country.

Outstanding Facility and Dining Opportunities

All camp activities are conducted INDOORS at the Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) Center located on campus.  The HPER Center includes five full courts and 22 baskets. Three of the playing courts and 14 baskets are located in the AIR-CONDITIONED Pam Evans Smith Arena.  Campers also have access to the Olympic-size swimming pool in the HPER Center natatorium.

Resident campers stay in AIR-CONDITIONED Firestine Residence Hall that is located only 75 yards from the HPER Center.  Camp coaching staff members reside in the residence hall along with campers and provide supervision during meal breaks and in the evening.

Campers eat meals in the Center Dining Room (CDR) which is located in the university’s Student Center. The CDR, which is air-conditioned for the camper’s comfort, serves meals on an all-you-can-eat and drink basis.  The CDR is located approximately 150 yards only from Firestine Residence Hall.
